The Central Region Giving Committee & Leadership Team participated in its first volunteer event with the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas on August 4, 2023. The Team volunteered at E.B. Comstock Middle School located in Dallas, TX for a Stock The School Event ahead of the school year kicking off. E.B. Comstock Middle School is an underserved feeder school in South Dallas and was in need of a lot of TLC to get the school ready for the year. We dedicated most of our time setting up the Resource Room, which is an auxiliary building on the school property.

Our team was tasked with building shelves & racks for student uniforms, stocking / organizing the food pantry and toiletries, and cleaning the room in preparation for faculty & students to use the space. The competitive juices in our team were flowing early when the United Way lead briefed us on our tasks in the morning and said that they expected this to take a couple shifts, so we just needed to do our best during our shift. We ended up finishing this work with some time to spare and were able to help in other areas of the school before we
wrapped up for the day. The feedback we heard from our partner at the United Way following the event was
that “We were raving about DN Tanks all week!”
